About Us
Welcome to Small Llama's online marketplace, where you can discover exquisite hand-crafted Peruvian llama figurines that make a positive difference in the lives of others. Learn a little bit more about our mission and what we do by reading our story below.
We are passionate about supporting impactful initiatives in Peru through our partnership with Fundación OLI, a Peruvian non-profit dedicated to supporting poverty reduction. With every purchase, we donate 20% of our profits to their programs to support disadvantaged families and improve their quality of life. Our goal is to create a lasting impact on the country, and we invite you to join us on this journey.
Each llama we offer is meticulously handcrafted using authentic Andean materials, sourced from our Peruvian suppliers in El Mercado Indio, and infused with love and tradition. Our apparel is made out of soft Peruvian Cotton, ideal for keeping you cool in the summer, and warm in the winter.
Llamas are the backbone of many Peruvian families; there is deep meaning and thought behind our choice. Llamas have been instrumental in Peru's development since before the time of the Incan Empire until present day. These remarkable animals are not only reliable carriers of heavy loads and providers of transportation but also offer incredibly soft and warm wool. They possess an exceptional capacity for love and loyalty, forming bonds of friendship and devotion with their owners. They have facilitated various tasks, brought happiness to people's lives, and embody the essence of what we aim to achieve at Small Llamas.
We wanted to share this important symbol with the world, allowing everyone to experience a piece of Peruvian culture in their own homes. Each llama figurine is carefully sourced and directly shipped from Peru to your doorstep, serving as a tangible connection between our two countries and fostering an appreciation for Peru's rich heritage.
About the Creator
My name is Rafael Palma, I am 17 years old, and I'm from Dallas, Texas. As a proud Peruvian citizen, I have personally witnessed the stark contrast between the beauty of Peru's sites and the unfortunate poverty that affects its population. This unfair reality saddened me deeply and motivated me to start my project, Small Llamas, as a sincere effort to leave a positive impact on the country. I observed the profound impact that genuine efforts can have through the actions of my siblings and parents. My eldest brother raised significant funds for a program called Peru Champs, which offers scholarships to children from low-income families with limited resources, transforming their lives entirely. My second eldest brother worked with Casa Magia, an organization that supports Peruvian children with cancer, bringing joy to their lives through meaningful projects. And my mother created her fashion line called Unico Accessories, where she not only sells her accessories but employs several Peruvian artisans as well. I hope you enjoy the Small Llama products and I thank you for all of your support.
Fundación OLI
Created in 2012, Fundacion OLI is a Peruvian solidarity platform dedicated to channeling efforts, resources, and thus connecting people and institutions for equal opportunities in the areas of environment, health, culture/education, and empowerment/poverty reduction; through their strategic alliances, solidarity projects, and initiatives and humanitarian aid campaigns.
Corazones Solidarios
This project, supported by Fundacion OLI, to which we directly donate our purchases is called Corazones Solidarios. What this project does, is sell creative and unique hand-made heart-shaped ornaments, made by mothers with children who are undergoing medical treatment. Since the mothers are in the hospital all day, this is something that they can work on to still earn an income, while being able to take care of their children in the hospital. These ornaments are made with love and are amazing quality products that serve an immensely significant cause. We hope you can help us have a lasting impact on these families by purchasing their specially made-llama ornaments in our online store. Pukaray
Another one of Fundacion OLI’s projects that we have chosen to directly donate to, is called Pukaray. Pukaray means “strengthen” in the Quechua language, a language spoken before and throughout the Incan Empire, that is local to the Andean regions of South America and is still spoken today. They are a Peruvian jewelry brand, worked by women with disabilities, that sells fashionable hand-made woven bracelets. Their bracelets are extremely stylish and of amazing quality. Pukaray’s whole mission is to promote self-employment in talented people, providing them with tools for personal development and entrepreneurship so that they can build their autonomy. This project is one of their main sources of income, and all sales made on this website will go directly to them. We would be vastly grateful for any purchases of these bracelets made in our online store. You can also donate to this project directly by clicking the button below.
